Yes, it will be expensive but past Sony launches have always seen Europe paying much more than North America...

it is usually a 1 to 1 exchange between euro's and US dollars on consoles.....so it will be $500 or $600 here.....Sony is supposedly doing a retarded version like MS did with the premium and core business....

Actually the Euro is starting to fail because it has nothing backing it up such as gold or another resource that is backing it up.... If you ask me I think the euro will soon fail completely leaving many european countries going WTF mate

Yea we use to use the gold standard but now it is more or less the "Our Nukes are bigger and we have more" standard to back up our money in the U.S. LOL

I think the "WTF mate" came off of a retarded end of the world cartoon video. I saw it at one point and it was kinda funny but haven't run across it since.

The u.s. has no gold backing our money anymore, the euro is actually very competitive with the dollar and is soon expected to greatly surpass it. u.s. curreny faces huge inflation especially as americans borrow more and more. "After the introduction of the euro, its exchange rate against other currencies, especially the US dollar, declined heavily. At its introduction in 1999, the euro was traded at USD1.18; on 26 October 2000, it fell to an all time low of $0.8228 per euro. It then began what at the time was thought to be a recovery; by the beginning of 2001 it had risen to nearly $0.96. It declined again, although less than previously, reaching a low of $0.8344 on 6 July 2001 before commencing a steady appreciation. In the wake of U.S. corporate scandals, the two currencies reached parity on 15 July 2002, and by the end of 2002 the euro had reached $1.04 as it climbed further. On 23 May 2003, the euro surpassed its initial ($1.18=€1.00) trading value for the first time. At the end of 2004, it had reached a peak of $1.3668 per euro (€0.7316 per $) as the US dollar fell against all major currencies. At that time, some analysts expected the dollar to continue to fall, a few even suggesting $1.60 per euro by the end of 2005, fuelled by the so called twin deficit of the US accounts. However, the dollar recovered in 2005, rising to $1.18 per euro (€0.85 per $) in July 2005 (and stable throughout the second half of 2005). The fast increase in US interest rates during 2005 had much to do with this trend." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euro

you know....colleges are not taking info from wikipedia because its not a "legitemit source"....IPFW is throwing out papers that people write based off references from wikipedia....so not too sure on how reliable that is lol

Wow I haven't looked at this thread for a long time... Good catch Roemain, the rest of you apparently have no idea how the world economy works. I'm certainly no expert but the Euro is here to stay and will continue to dominate because to put it lightly the US is FRACKED. I'm willing to bet I'm the only one here that's been outside of Noord-amerika and experienced first hand the American trade and knowledge deficit. BTW the US hasn't used a Gold Standard since 1929. The UK has traditionally gone against the rest of Europe and they still use the pound sterling, but after having been in Europe I can tell you the Euro is a very good thing and is quickly becoming the global standard. Once the dollar is out the last remaining superpower will be sitting in the cold wishing it could afford some Venezuelian fuel oil.
As for Wikipedia: Wikipedia is considered more reliable than Encarta and on par with Britanica (regaurded as the World's most complete and peer reviewed encycolpedia). U of M even condones Wikipedia and the University don't even allow students to take classes from other colleges without prior testing and approval... Face it Wikipedia is the future of information technology.

I was just saying what our teacher told us about IPFW (by the way, IPFW is Indiana University, Purdue University in Fort Wayne) They got it from IU and Purdue, they dont allow sources from Wikipedia because their can be user edited entries or something like that? I personaly love it...I've found so much stuff on their where as you can hardly find in other sources...so im kinda dissapointed about that. And I cant wait to see the US dollar fall...I was a little upset when i found out that it wasnt backed by the gold way back in gov't class in like 10th grade or something like that....i mean...who wants to base their economics off the sole support of a gov't? id rather have it backed by gold than a support issue.....stupid upperclass white american conservatives.....they should all die lol ( only reason i said that was im just taking a guess and going to say it was those in high power, generally those mentioned, that changed the economy to that...)

Try to remember this was the GREAT DEPRESSION. They changed it for your benefit, the upper class would have perfered gold. If we still used a gold standard you'd be living in a third world country begging tourists for change. Think about it how many pounds of gold do you have hidden under the matress?

I dont remember the HDMI thing loker...but I do remember the price....ya I've been watching it....also....dual HDMI? for multiplayer games possibly? that would be nice....but hey.... www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=16760at least Ill post the actual articles so 1 less HDMI, 2 less Ethernet and USB ports (why would u need 3 ethernet ports anyway?)....and if you get the sh!t version then you dont get WiFi or HDMI.... www.rewiredmind.com/news/080506/sonye3pressconferencefullreportso...a Blue-Ray player..which you can pre-order from Best Buy now for $999.99....comes with the PS3...whether you get the 20GB hdd version or the 60....plus, it has full, backwards compatiblity for PS and PS2 games.....hmm...take a few more of the USB ports off...and still better than the 360.... . But an article I did read said this is a major investment for Sony...it'll decide the fate of the next gen media formats...

it is not a good blu-ray player.....because of the fact that the cheap one has no HDMI and even the expensive one has one HDMI with no HDCP means that blu-ray will come out looking like DVD because of the image constraint token sony and all the other movie companies are implementing....so in reality PS3 makes a horrible blu-ray player.....

|
Post by Loker on May 9, 2006 19:32:07 GMT -5
also it is not fully backwards compatible.....last I heard they were still really struggling with backwards compatibility.......basically what they have done is advertised something for the past year they can not deliver then not only that they scold MS for releasing 2 different system price points and what do they do? release 2 different system price points....

ah, now I may have argued with you on that point....it wouldn't be stupid....think about it...you could run dual monitors that way (or dual TV's)....which in a multiplayer game would make things great
