Hey what would cause two sata to just out of the blue just not power on. my 200 gig and 160 gig sata worked fine all day went to work came home play around online and then curt came home and i switched out the power supply and they dont power on. now i know you will say well put the old one back well i did same problem. they also dont turn on in are server that also has sata. so any ideas, cuz i really needd all the data that is on thoes. thats over 320 gigs of my life right there and that is just nuts. fo rthem both to just up and stop working.

Are you sure they aren't getting power? You can't hear them spin up? Try using a different power connection instead of the SATA but not both at once... I'd say it's most likely something in the power connection...

tried 3 diffrent powers supplys and still no spin up one was pluged in for liek 10 min and got hot but only in place i think there dead

maybe the power supply you put in it shorted on that rail and killed the drives....

thats what i am thinking but i am not sure but i am happier now i didnt losse all my movies they were on my other 160 gig so all i lost is my music and my installeres which curt has so i am all good i hope

harvey....we tried my silverstone in there....is there any chance that it was a bad rail that fried it?....maybe that fried the vid card and mobo?.....also....could it be that the 5v rail could fry the hdds?....im just going to send it back and get a new one...i dont want to lose all my info haha.....o...and guess what....all my diff raids and the windows installation are running fine

I think hds usually draw more from the 12v, but it is possible you had a bad rail.
