According to the NPD group's numbers, the Nintendo DS is currently the best selling video game system, outselling the Xbox 360 and PS2 hand over fist. Also, Nintendo WiFi Connection has reached 1.7 Million unique people over the last 8 months since its launch. Nintendo compares it to a city, stating that it would be the 5th largest in the USA. It would be larger then San Diego, Philadelphia and Phoenix.
Also, New Super Mario Bros. is the indrusty's best selling game for the second month in a row, proving that reviving Mario was a great idea! It has sold more than 450,000 copies! Brain Age and Big Brain Academy have sold 350,000 as a combined total. The Nintendogs titles have sold 100,000 copies. All of these games are doing extremely great!
We can only expect those numbers to get bigger. Especialy the Nintendo WiFi numbers, with alot of online capable games coming in later months.
"Nintendo DS is the only game system available a year ago that showed growth over the same period, and it did so in overwhelming fashion, with a leap of 426 percent," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "What we're seeing is realization of our promise that Nintendo will bring gaming to the masses-whatever your taste or level of experience, we've got a system and a game for you."
