So it looks like I'm finally getting a job on campus, I just interviewed for a position as a computer consultant for those few hours I have between classes. Pays $9.00 an hour.
Ohh and Mansmith your mobo is on its way back to Foxconn. Or rather will be once I get that heatsink mount, did you have it in the mobo box or did I hold on to it for you? All I know is that I don't have it in Ann Arbor. They gave me a bit of a run around so we'll see if they actually fix the damn thing.... lol

That could be fun, so for a first job, why does my moms computer take like 5 minutes to start up?

Still? You mean your old computer or the Dell? If it's yours that just proves it's that hard drive slowing everything down.

she has to many programs starting up at start-up, there's spyware filling up your processes...(task manager, see how many processes are running after everything is started up...)being a consumer machine, I'd say if there's more than 30-35 processes then there is way to much stuff starting up. That's the first thing....other than that, hardware issues PS: Good luck on the job! wish I would have had something like that when I was in college...much more fun than doing the same in High school..... :\

The hard drive the 320 that i just got from you. she bought it off of me than i bought a 500. So yea, i dunno what the deal is.

I could take a look at it but who knows when I'll be home again. You have to think what was installed or done that caused it to slow down. I'd try running selective startup and deleting some programs. I imagine you already thought of installing antivirus and antispyware, but honestly those can slow thing down too so you want to check your default settings. You should also check the "startup" folder in the start-program files area and make sure nothing is hiding out there.
