Just letting you guys know. Your more than welcome to come. We're having a LAN up here in Kzoo on the 22nd of December. If you want to come and need directions let me know. As far as what will be needed...I have tables, and chairs. Plenty of network cables (CAT6 plus 19 Gigabit ports..2 switches, 16 and a 5port...plus a couple 8 port 100/10mb switches if needed) and switches, unless someone wants to bring another gigabit switch, I don't think it'll be needed, but you never know. As far as power goes, we have plenty of that. I've got 4 or 5 power strips, and a ton of power cords....so I guess bring whatever will make you happy . So uh, let me know if you want to come

rofl...sure...your case is light...no weight behind it...though...you do have a heavy monitor...so i guess you can add the weight together and you get about the same as I...but it's still split between 2 parts

I just found out from a repair company that sells these monitors that when they made 300 they bought 40 of these because 'no other display offered the kind of color accuracy this does'.
Apparently it is also used by ILM, Lucas Arts, and Pixar for their 3D rendering and post processing stuff...

wow, that's cool! Justin wants me to grab a few, but I've got a handful of 20-22" CRT flat screens at work I'm grabbing...they were the old monitors used for 3D rendering with AutoCAD and other engineering programs that they use....they're upgrading to 24" LCDs and these CRTs are just getting thrown out. They seem pretty decent....good quality.

If they're getting thrown out pick them all up... I already have more CRTs than I need but we could build a giant screen out of them or something. lol

If there is high speed I can bring my router....its been loaded with Linux and OC'd and should be able to stand up under heavy traffic...

We have the D-Link Gaming router there is no need for another router. that dlink is a beast.

So who can we expect to see in terms of attendance at this LAN? I'll talk to Chase, Dan, and Romain - anyone mention it to Hartzel? Should I create a facebook event?

Sure! And thanks for the Offer loker. The router we currently use is a D-link 4300. It's a gigabit wireless router with that GameFuel thing (intelligent routing based on apps that are being ran). It works great with ~12 people as that's the most I've had on it playing at the same time online. As far as Chase and them go Harvey, I don't know how to get a hold of them except on here. well I guess I have facebook too lol. I could create an event as well, if you don't see one by the end of the day today why don't you go ahead and create it if you want to....I may have time today lol. I sent you a PM with all the info I could think of before I have to leave for work. So if there's anything else just let me know.

So if there's anything else just let me know. yeah this has got an intelligent QoS and UPnP and deep packet inspection....basically instead of watching certain ports for games and programs it will scan all the packets and then based on data inside the packet it will route it faster or delay it for more important traffic (like games) to get through....right now I can run bittorrent and still have low pings in games I also have the transmitter overpowered in it it has 3 times the power of a standard router which is pure win because if you put egg's within 3 feet of it they cook from all the wi-fi radiation LOL...so breakfast is on me guys.... I don't know if there is anything I have that we can use....if someone is bringing a projector I have an HD-DVD drive and a couple of HD-DVD movies we could have going....
