My external hard drive enclosure appears to have caught on fire, it is unkown if the hard drive survived.... If it did not all my games and program installers may be lost.... I suggest anyone thinking about reformating put it off until I can figure out if the hard drive inside the enclosure is ok...
Did this week totally suck for anyone else?

I just opened it up and the hard drive is toast.... On the plus side it looks like the tray may have survived. Why o' why didn't I finish transfering all the installers to Mansmith's computer! I just organised all the damn things too!

so how/why did it catch on fire? I'm not quite sure how, but one of what I believe to be transitors on the underside of the hard drive exploded. I was going to install the updated video driver on Dolbe's computer, turned it off, unplugged it, connected the drive to his psu/mobo. Started up and it started spewing smoke. Drive was actually installed in the computer, no stress on cables, I was using it extensively before this so it was hot, but I think it must have been some sort of voltage spike that killed it. But after taking it out of the enclosure it is defintely dead. Had I remembered my keys I could have used my external power source, but it doesn't really matter now.
