As long as he can swap video cards it's gonna be better... I'm a go, what about this weekend too? I have class Thursday, but I think I should be able to come home by 4pm... Make sure your Battlefield 2 is all in order, I had a damn good time playing that last Sunday. I also think we should aim for some Goldeneye: Source (Check the mods board)

does anyone else have a card thats decent that u can borrow, cuz this weekend would work for me before i send my system back
as far as the system goes, theres a couple things im not too happy about, like the tab key has fallen off 3 times, they sent me the wrong graphics driver on the restore cd, and i cant get my tv tuner to work like its supposed to. so it seems that i can get an alienware for about the sammj-e price with an athlon x2 4200+ instead of the 2 ghz pentium m.(and the mj-12 and the aurora have the exact same specs and ALMOST same case except for the name which i still cant find, ask loker, but the mj-12 is $500 cheaper through alienwares govnt and educational program.)

Yeah and you haven't even seen B4 yet... GWHAHHAHAHHAHAHA!
Considering it may be a very long time until the next lan I'll have to post pics of the progress. Let me tell you after 3-4 days building it is quite impressive, I can't even begin to name all the little things I built into this version. The best part is it looks like it's meant to be this way, some may think it actually came from the factory like this.

I was only off by a pound Harvey.....thats like $0.20 I wonder if DHL will bill the difference lol....you usually send stuff back to newegg....and have you ever done it when the card was almost a year old.....

|
Post by Kämpfer on Jan 6, 2006 12:20:58 GMT -5
I usually ship to the manufacturer because newegg's return policy isn't that great and yes I have done it on old cards and those I bought used.

Actually, when my chaintech card died they were very helpful and easy to work with. Quit being so obsessed with ATI.

Actually, when my chaintech card died they were very helpful and easy to work with. Quit being so obsessed with ATI. I am not obsessed I often recommend nvidia cards to people....but I have to act like it here because everyone is so damn obsessed with nvidia that its ridiculous.....

same....none of the stores were keeping the occasional/seasonal people.....u know what....Loker and [EBA]FlyingMongoose must be the same people....they both are talking about how bad Nvidia is....and the only experience they have is with their own stuff.....quit being so biased....I like both companies.....my X800xl has worked great.....and Nvidia has never been bad about warranties or such.

well ill tell you one thing...u dont want to look at Nvidia as a whole.....Chaintech, BFG, Giga-byte....ive had good luck with those companies....and people with the same series but a different brand...."evga"....have had bad experiences. One thing I do notice is that Nvidia has a ton more manufacturers than ATI does....kinda sad when you look at one series and can find 12 different cards all made by sapphire.

Visiontek and "MSI (crap company)" are also big ATI partners. Gainward was one of my favorite nVidia partners, but they may have gone under. A bunch of people at the lan have or had Gainward Video Cards. I've also used quite a few XFX cards and with the current Beast I have been very pleased with my pair of eVGA cards. Like I said in the other post that MSI 6800GT that I had was rock solid with that awesome copper heatsink. The thing about nVidia cards is that the specifications change from company to company, and many cards now come with a factory overclock making them that much better.
