I know i've heard it before...don't mess with modding the 98 custom...blah blah blah...yes it would be cool to do other guns and such...but i love the simplicity of the 98C. and I don't want to spend much money. Here is what Im looking at doing to the standard 98C of which I have: StockNew barrel I need a new long barrel...my short one works fine..i just need a long one now. The remote not sure what a slide check is...it made a difference in $25 in price...but im just looking to get the tank off the gun, so as long as the remote works and doesn't leak..i'll be good. Expansion Chamber I just need an expansion chamber, not the vertical feed...last time I played i was shooting it too fast and the tank froze up...had to let it set for a few seconds to warm back up lol...figure this would help that. cheaper than switching to air right? lol Goggles I know I want a good pair, and I would actually like to find those goggles with the VOX communication in them...cause that'd be cool, especially for at splat, if u play with a group. Those are all just examples of course, what im looking for type stuff. Now, on top of that, Im really thinking about getting into pistol's...using my 98C as a secondary weapon and running around with pistol, just because i think that'd be more fun, i mean if you get someone out at splat with pistol, and they have rifles...that would just be great haha...but ya, I have no idea how much money i'll have to spend when i do this, I just know that that's the type of stuff I'm looking for from now till April or so. New type of flatline? LOL...it was interesting...so I thought id post it...never saw something like this before haha.

There have been different faltline concepts since there have been upgradable barrels, it's really nothing new and nowhere near worth that kind of money. There is no excuse for the gun freezing up other than Tippmann is getting cheaper, once upon a time they perfered the cold just so they got a bit of liquid. I suggest an anti-syphon tank ($5-10) first then an expansion chamber. Expansion chambers really what they're cracked up to be, modern ones are too small to have any significant effect but if you're serious consider a Palmer Stabilizer(in this case the reg would be worth more than the gun). You really should consider buying a different gun, I have a feeling it would cost much less than any upgrades.... I now have 3 .68 Carbines (5) that are a considerable step up in quality over the Model 98, but it retains the same sort of feel while shooting. In that same class I would also recommend trying one of my Montneel Z1's(1), my Stom (2), one of my 3 Sheridan VM-68s (3), F1/2 Illustrator (4) or AFT (pistol), ICD Desert Fox (7), Alley Cat(6), Thunder Cat, Puma, or a Line-SI Promaster (8). Believe me these are just a fraction of the guns in that class, Desert Fox and the Z1/Mega Z are actually higher up the scale, but prices are still comparable. Even some old Spyders are fun to play around with. I'm also willing to bet each one of these would bring you more enjoyment and cost less than any upgrade even less than a 14" barrel... If you want to expand your search to include other guns than blowbacks then you have even more possibilities! Seriously you should just rent a new gun every week until you find something really awesome... I can gaurantee there are guns that are more accurate, more reliable, and in better shape than your 98 for about as much money as the remote. Many of my guns cost more than that but then I just bought one vintage wonder for $6.57. I'm all about maximizing fun these days not so much about collecting the ultimate piece of paintball engineering. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) I too have been looking at goggles, but haven't really decided either way.

Well, that's why i was asking about the parts...i wasn't sure on the expansion chamber, as I never had a problem with freezing up, and maybe it was just that chilly day i was using it that caused it. But all the parts minus the chamber would cost me under $100, and I know I wouldn't have to do anything else to it besides O rings in the future. Though that's not a big deal because most of those guns above i doubt would ever need more than just minor maintenance as well, but with my gun it's also the feel; I'm use to it, I know it shoots great, doesn't chop any balls, and shoots everytime I fire it. And i just don't like the look of any of those guns above. Also, If I get those things to add to my gun, it will be a finished product. I'll be done with it after that, I won't want to add anything else to it. And then, from there i'll be going into the PGP world, meaning I'll be looking for the pistol, a chest strap for the 12gram co2 cartriges and PGP paintball pods, and a holster. Kinda weird, but by next fall i want to switch so that my main weapon is a pistol, and my secondary...or side arm, is the rifle....hilarious isn't it haha. I'll look around, see If i can't find a gun that I like the looks of, and has what I want, and then see what you think. I mean, I could cut $45 off of that $100 if my long barrel wasn't bent...I noticed it awhile back, it has a slight bend in the middle of the barrel...not sure why, but im sure it affects the accuracy a lot, which is the only reason I want to get a new barrel for it. The remote is so I can get the tank off the gun, and It'll be a lot lighter for me. And the stock is because of taking the tank off, i don't have a shoulder rest anymore. Not to mention If I get lucky I can probably find those things for a lot cheaper on ebay, so I could save even more, maybe. But, for sake of not being one-sided, i'll look around at other guns and see if there's anything i like .

Yeah even for $100 you could probably get 2-3 new guns, including some pistols that would out shoot your "rifle"...

PMI USPKingman MR1 : is that any good? I know one main thing im looking for in a rifle is a side-feed. I don't want a hopper stuck on top of the gun. That was the only one that caught my eye so far.

Another pistolIm not really sure on pistols...im just posting some to get some feed back so I know if im looking at good ones or not...hmm, isn't there that paintball review site that you can look up guns and stuff and see user reviews and such? and i remember that dragonfly justin had by 32 degrees...so this one would make me cautious...though I like the way it looks alot. Is this just a Tippman with the mods? or is this actually a brand gun? BT BT-4 Assault Paintball Gunto me, it looks cool, and it would be something I would use, just, is the reason it cost $250 because it has all the mods or is it more because it's actually a good gun?

ok so for $50 I picked up a usp and its a great pistol but the only plus I can see to owning a USP over any other pisto is this.
1. I can add an Evil Pipe tip to increase range and accuracy, it screws right on to the end of the marker, but accuracy is already good for a pistol.
2. I can upgrade to a derlin bolt system standard upgrade for all spyder/piranhas
3. I can add the E-force frame and have a full auto pistol or a 3,6,9 shot burst. now that would be cool but with only 10 shots why would you do somthing like that??
otherwise this has been a great marker for only $50.

I wouldn't buy any of those, certainly not worth the money right now... It's winter and paintball guns are cheap if you know what to buy. You probably wont be satisfied with any of those especially as a primary. From my POV pistol kinda depends on your interpretation, I'm assuming you want to run 12g CO2 with a small ammo tube or minihopper and a short barrel. Basically any paintball gun can be converted to a pistol, in fact there are some very interesting microcockers available that would out perform your tippmann. I have both a micrococker ($215) and a retrovalve micromag ($300) if you'd like to try them out sometime, both would be pretty far beyond your Tippy... From my standpoint, vintage Sheridans and PMI's make spectacular pistols, most are pump but there are a few custom built autococking units. This is not to be confused with some of the autococker shit WGP currently sells. On the other side of the isle you might also consider some Nelson based guns such as a 007. There are some new scenario pistols that seem to be fairly good shooters, but new guns are going to cost some cash.... I myself would like to have a Feral Action Sports Armed Forces Trainer *seen below. If you're going for something cheap and readily available I'd think about a PT Extreme or a Zeus G2 or something. Just don't make the mistake of going out and buying or ordering some spyder clone when you can get something really cool for the same price or less. *

I definately want to go non-pump on the pistol. I know they're cool and all...im just not a pump kinda guy haha. The blazer and teh middle one above looks like something I would use...what are we talking as far as prices for something like that? I just want to make sure whatever i buy is going to be able to fire all the time, easy to maintain and use, and has great accuracy, like my tippy haha.

well...my mom just asked me today...she said "what's something you want for christmas that's around $130?"...so im not sure if there is something like that, really idealy, i'd like to spend around $100 on the gun, a holster, and a 12 gram/pod chest strap. Not sure if that can get anything that's non-pump or not, but what id like to get is definately something that would be easy to maintain.

The USP was $50 and Came with a Holster its semi auto and easy to maintain. so at this point it seems to be a good bang for your buck. and I have not had problems with mine thus far.

I got mine at meijer clearance sale.... but I think it was like a chain wide event, because I bought two up in kalamazoo and bought one in threerivers, and one in schoolcraft. I then sold one to Jay, one to Dave, and one on the internet. LOL but they should still be easy to find but the question is at what price?

well the PMI USP at actionvillage is $100...and most of the stuff on their are pretty good priced...and when i search for the same thing on Ebay, i usually find it maybe 5-10 cheaper...but im not nearly as good at ebaying as harvey is lol.

well like I said in this case paying 46% off of retail price is better than most any internet deal. LOL how ironic that for once meijer did have the lowest price. LOL

Ebay can be very cheap or very expensive, it's all driven by demand - far more than the retail market.... There are many items that sell for more than they're worth; it's all about manipulating the market so you buy low and sell high. If you're good and you time it right you can get a mint condition .68 Carbine for $35, if not you could end up with one beat to shit for $85. The only reason I'm so good at ebay is because I have seen both the good and the bad of it; it seems that only with failures can we truely learn. Your best weapon is restraint.

touche....that's why...harvey...im asking ya to look for a usp for me...and then give me a price...If I can find 2 of them for like $120...then i'll buy them...or if you can find: 1 usp holster chest strap 10shot pods name a price, and i'll have it. hopefully it'll be around $100. If you can, if not, it's ok...i'll just look around lol. Thx ahead of time
