Paintball is a hazardous sport played with real guns that can do harm and serious injury to myself and others. It is a serious sport which makes rigorous demands on players’ physical and mental abilities. When played in a safe manner, it can provide a rewarding experience not available in any other sport. A 0.68 caliber paintball moving at high velocity adds a special dimension of hazard. At a minimum, it can cause pain and bruising. It can break the skin and cause bleeding. If it strikes an unprotected eye, ear, or mouth it can cause blindness, deafness, or even death. This is why proper safety gear for players, isolation of spectators from the play area, and proper handling pf paintball guns is absolutely essential. These guns are not toys and should be thought of as real weapons at all times. Paintball guns are unpredictable and can fire without a propellant source, even with the safety on. On and off the field you should always practice proper safety when handling any paintball gun whether it is loaded or not. The importance of following safety rules and the risk of serious injury, require an adult level of maturity. We are here to have fun, but make no mistake SAFETY IS THE TOP PRIORITY.
Before play, all guns are chronographed to ensure they are operating at a safe speed and should be adjusted only by qualified personnel. Semi/full-automatic weapons are restricted to 285 fps, pump action weapons to 300 fps. Do not fire your weapon unless you are a participant in an active game. On each field there is a designated safe zone in which no guns are to be raised or fired. When masks are off; put the safety on, barrel plugs in, and always keep the gun pointed at the ground.
If you have been eliminated call yourself out, put your safety on, barrel plug in, and hold your gun up in the air. DO NOT TAKE YOUR MASK OFF! Proceed to walk off the field avoiding any fire. Whether it breaks or not, once you call yourself out, you are out for the remainder of the game. Never fire upon eliminated players. In an attempt to avoid over shooting; if more than 3 balls break on any one person, that person picks an opposing player to walk with them. The easiest way to avoid over shooting is to simply call yourself out the first time. If you aren’t sure and you think you may have been hit or believe you hit someone else you can always call a “paint check.” Anyone can call a paint check at any time. During a paint check there is to be no firing; turn your safety on, put the barrel plug in, and point your gun at the ground. If you are hit during a paint check the elimination does not count; remind the opposing player to put their safety on and barrel plug in. Every person is capable of checking themselves and those nearby, if you need help ask for it. After the paint check the game will restart with a countdown when all players are ready. As always the referee/official’s judgment is final.
During a game NEVER, NEVER TAKE YOUR MASK OFF! Only fire your weapon if you can sight your target down the barrel of the gun; no blind firing. There will be no horseplay on the field and if caught you will be asked to leave immediately. Paintball guns are never to be fired in anger or used to intentionally injure other players. NEVER FIRE YOUR GUN AT ANYONE NOT WEARING A MASK! In the real world there is no justification, no payback, no reason for causing harm. Everyone shares the responsibility of safety. So play safe and have fun!
