So, you've seen the trailer... I can tell you I'm really excited about this. From the looks of it, it could actually achieve what Enterprise attempted. Capture the story behind mankind's first great leap into the stars. The premise of this film actually makes me want to believe in Star Trek again, maybe even believe in humanity again. I guess the question is will this film return the franchise to greatness or let it continue to slide into ambiguity. I guess we'll see come Christmas. www.imdb.com/video/user/me703165651

The original trilogy - yes. But you can't ignore the cultural impact of Trek either. Star Wars was a remarkable movie, but Trek was out there every week exploring new frontiers and thats gotta be worth something.

Of course, that's why I liked it....it's just a habit of mine to be against a thread to be funny...we all know there are 4 groups out there... 1.Trekies, 2.Star Wars groupies, 3.People who like Space movies as long as it's a good movie, and 4.People who hate life and should die. lol ...I fall into the 3rd group...I use to watch the series back when I was like 8-10...can't wait to see this one though

I always used to watch TNG after school and Star Wars was by far my favorite movie as a kid...
I do have to say though I've been very dissatisfied with sci-fi lately. I mean there is so much subject matter to cover but it seems like 90% of the genre films and tv shows suck. I reserve a few notable exceptions being: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (while it could have been better), Firefly/Serenity, Battlestar Galactica, and Eureka. Everything else has been sub par and disappointing. I do have to say there is one rising star in the future, Ender's Game has finally been ported for both a game and a movie. Orson Scott Card is supposedly writing the screenplay and Wolfgang Petersen has been chosen to direct. We might see it yet this year so hopefully it lives up to the novel.
