If only comcast would come out and install there lines in the new suburb where my mom lives (behind the water tower in pigeon) then Id say we could do it there.....once they do do that though....I can have LANS there no prob...and its a huge huge basement...its bigger than Ports so ya..I'd have the same prob as barber....just dial-up....but my basement is HUGE. So that would be an idea also.....wait....Loker....your in with comcast....get them to run the lines out to my moms...its only a block away from where the line ends HAHA yeah right if you get her whole street to sign a petition I can get you an address to send it to and comcast will decide whether or not its cost effective.....but if your like harvey its gonna cost you like 10k to run cable lol (that stuff is surprisingly expensive to lay.....) 1 block is expensive? besides...its only 1 house so far...there are 17 other lots....theres a Remax sign and a Prudential sign up now....so who knows...maybe this spring more people will move in haha but ya...its dissapointing that we live in TOWN and dont have access to cable....hell...if I could Id run my own cable, not that hard...its like...tell me where the box is...ill go rent a tracker...bury the cable 10' under if you want....and then u just have to get them to come out and hook it up haha....lol that is doable you know

Harvey was 50 feet from a cable line and they quoted him at like 2 grand was it harvey? Yeah, it was something insane like that... I think it was more actually they basically quote you an insane price just so they don't have to deal with you. Considering our dilema I wouldn't mind going to that place by Hartzel's dad, but how much and can we get it that fast?

They are a christian group who is opposed to the violence in video games - no good. And I suspect the daycare was sold more out of necesity than anything else...

why necesity? I thought chases mom liked that job.

dunno if it was really out of necessity.....I know Chase said last year his parents were planning on selling the daycare......and as harvey said its already been attempted at the apocalypse they are all jesus nuts......were you able to get a hold of hartzell harvey and ask him about the club house?

why necesity? I thought chases mom liked that job. It's not a great time to own your own business right now and I don't think the daycare was especially profitable. When you figure in all taxes, state licensing fees, and the competition around town it suddenly becomes a very unfriendly market. I agree Chase's mom loved her job but I don't think she was "getting paid" enough to do it...

I know this is a lot of hassle, but Barber can you post pics? Otherwise maybe we should meet as soon as I get back. I'd give the go ahead, but I don't know where you live (other than the time I checked out the 928) and I don't know how big your basement is... I know we could all file in the lake cottage as long as the parents didn't find out. It would really be nice if someone else gave some input here... I know there are more than three people on the forums that care where we do this. What do you guys want to do? I know Romain was against going to Barber's because of the same questions I posed above. Any other ideas that we could explore before the end of the week?
^We could rig something up for dialup at Barber's too, but where does Curt's mom live and how much room does she have? Remember LAN parties need to be relatively clean environments (preferably better than the daycare) for the computers, but we also generate a lot of trash, not to mention noise, and draw a shitload of electricity.
We're better than we used to be and could rig up just about any space pretty well with tables, but with the daycare gone we need chairs and we need power. My basement is wired for a max of 10-15pcs, the cabin could take 30+, the barn 75+...
In terms of effort the barn is easy setup, easy clean up - it’s just a matter of trapping the heat. As I see it we have 2 weeks to figure out a heating system, last time I had 2 hrs. The only problem would arise with the parents. My dad would not be happy with people wondering around and there would be absolutely no illicit substances (basically applies anywhere we go now). I could find out the possible restrictions on Wednesday when I'm home, but I doubt anyone could stay out in the barn after say 1am.... I think it would be extremely difficult to heat all night. That means we either pack it up or you guys find another party to go to for the night. A few people my parents know could spend the night at our place, but I doubt we could house everyone. Dan what would your parents think of a huge sleep over? I guess it all depends on how many people are comming...

IDEA lets buy some tents and big lots has some 1k generators for $150 and some 1000 watt halogen lamps for $18 buy a couple generators and 2 or 3 lights and we will be lit up nice and bright and as a bonus 1000 watt bulbs have to give off a lot of heat......lol

well, i would post pics but my dad has our digital camera, and basically i am going through way too much hassle just trying to offer my house for the lan. so i quit, i dont care where it is, but im done trying to fight for it to be here since, as harvey said, i know there are more than three people on this forum and im sure there wil be more than three people at the lan. if you guys want to try to have it out here, fine, but im done wasting my time trying to get people to make a decision or even post their thoughts

It's really pissing me off that everyone is saying "not here", "not there", "I don't think I can go anyway", "I would rather get drunk, stoned, etc." It's time that you guys actually decide on some places we can go because we are running out of time and hosts. Everyone says they want to have a LAN party, but when it comes down to it I guess none of you actually want to...

eh I think I am gonna give up as well I brought up 2 or 3 serious places and only got input from 2 people on one of them....I keep checking the forums every hour or so when I am home and I have seen so many people on yet they seem to have broken keyboards or something....

well since theres obiously only 4 people including me that have any interest at all of having a lan we shouldnt have too much trouble finding a place You know I was thinking the exact same thing. Since we're on break anyway and can't use the daycare would you rather have it sometime during the week? The 28th might be a good day too. Then we can have a separate New Years party... Just an idea.

excellent...mine should be here wed!!! hopefully working by then..... Also...Ive had a few small LANs at my moms with family....6 computers and no problems.....This is how our Basement is set up. I have 2 rooms (my little sisters) that are 15 feet deep....thats about 2/5ths of the basement...pretty much I have another 55 feet deep and 40feet wide. Lots of space...a bit of junk and stairs. But most is movable so I would say there would be enough room to have a LAN about the size we had at the daycare...maybe a bit more, depends on how much room we really need. Also...the basement is set up on 2x15amp breakers and a 2x20amp breakers plus if it comes to too much power on 1 cable I can always run extension cords from the living room for a different circuit. Im a hundred percent positive that it would be no problem with my parents...if its during the week....maybe not too late due to the fact that they work...but im sure it would be fine...and when I say not too late i mean midnight or so...but its do-able...and yes...I have had our dial-up on a network with 4 computers....it was slow...but instant messaging worked great haha. As far as where my mom lives...if you know where the water tower in White Pigeon is next to Troyers...Its right behind there....ive got a small inlet field between me and the WP graveyard if that helps. Its a new subdivision that they put in...currently there is enough parking for like 80+cars... O,....If loker can get comcast to open up an IP in that area and someone had 500' of coaxil I could run it from the box down the street, in to my house to a cable modem and we could have cable internet

To me i can get this going at my house no problem...just need a few days notice. So if we still want to try figuring it out....like at hartzells or Romains?....im guessin port wants to do other things that night? haha....or even if we want to do it another day...I just need to know what day...and I need to make sure work doesnt schedule me.

my monster is here!!!!
just to let you all know the offers still on the table to have the lan at my place, i just need to know soon, and since there obviously arent too many people interested in attending, i should have plenty of room/resources. and as previously suggested, it could be somemtime during the week if people have other plans for new years.
